I have just returned from racing the 125 foot sloop P2 in the Newport Bucket Regatta, sailed over the July 18-19 weekend in Newport, Rhode Island.  It was a great regatta, with great weather, 15-20kt winds , and sunshine.  This was our second regatta on P2 and we are continuing to learn how to sail her better and get closer to her full potential.  The crew all worked really well together as a team and after two days of good racing, with some very close finishes, we managed to win both our class and overall.

P2 is proving to be a class act in this new growing field of performance cruiser yachts.  From the outside P2 has the look of a full performance pedigree, with carbon sails, water ballast, and a sleek racing hull form.  But inside she carries all the amenities for her owners to go cruising in luxury for weeks at a time, with air conditioning, full galley, and luxurious accommodations.  It is a wonderful new trend in yacht design, truly allowing owners to have the best of both worlds – an attractive looking yacht with sleek performance lines that can be raced, and one with full luxury that can also be cruised in style.  The owners and designers deserve high marks for this development which is growing to be a healthy segment of our sport.
