Just returned from the Voiles de St. Tropez in France, racing aboard the Farr 115 ketch SOJANA.  It was an incredible gathering of sailing yachts, from modern to classic, and all paraded in front of the charming town of St. Tropez.

The winds were light to non existent for most of the week, but we enjoyed some challenging racing in our class of about 40 boats.  We had a diverse group in our class, from the latest IRC racers like RAN and LEAPORD, to a few Superyachts like ours, and a couple of the grand J boats including VALSHEDA.

We managed to get around the courses cleanly, not running over anybody in the massive fleets, with managing the traffic being as important as sailing fast and playing the shifts.

I have not seen the final results, but I believe we beat all of the other Superyachts of our type.  But just as important, we had a fantastic time racing in one of the world’s true classic events in the beautiful setting of St. Tropez.  My personal thanks to SOJANA’s owner Peter Harrison and her skipper Marc Fitzgerald for taking such good care of our entire team all week.
