Welcome to my new web site. I hope it provides you with a good overview of the services I offer and some useful background information on me. I also hope it becomes a great resource for sailing, particularly here in the Caribbean. I would like to thank Arlene of Martel Public Relations for writing it and Luis of BalzacCapo Communications for building it.

Why build a web site? The answer is that I am embarking on a new career path and a website is the best means to make the information available to the greatest number of people and provide them with a way of contacting me.

Now for the real story. At the conclusion of the 2007 America’s Cup in Valencia Spain I decided to return home to the Virgin Islands to take some time off. I have done this after each of my Olympic and America’s Cup campaigns and find it critical to clearing my vision and recharging my batteries after being so consumed in a project for several years. It allows me to see the big picture, take a fresh look at what is important in life, and decide where I want to go next. What I learned from this time-out is that I want to work for myself again, I want to live in my home in St. Thomas, and I would like to give back to the sport and region that made my wonderful journey thus far possible. So I have formed a new business offering three primary services – professional sailing, consulting, and speaking.

Professional sailing is my forte and what I most love doing. In my new capacity as a free agent, I am able to base myself at home in the Virgin Islands and then fly out to locations around the world to race for various owners and different programs. I also believe that the Caribbean is on the verge of being recognized as one of the top regions in the world for racing, and living here will allow me to promote its growth and work for visiting teams. The best sailing conditions in the world are right here in the Caribbean, so why not bring the racing to where I live, rather than flying half way around the world to sail in places not as nice!

Consulting and speaking are the new titles to my profession, but in fact are a natural outgrowth of the professional sailing and corporate marketing that I have been doing around the world for the past 20 years. My goal here is to share my local knowledge and the experiences gained over 20 years in professional sports, with individuals, businesses, event organizers, young athletes, students, and children of all ages.
