Peter was a principal organizer of the Caribbean’s first Grade One international match race, held in Charlotte Amalie Harbor in December 1997 and again in 1998 which previewed eight America’s Cup Challengers. Peter secured coverage of the event by ESPN on its ‘Road to the America’s Cup’ special which aired later that same month. Holmberg´s team of organizers built stadium-style seating at sites overlooking the waterfront so spectators could view the action and catch the live ‘tack-by-tack’ commentary.
Peter’s life in the Caribbean and three America’s Cup campaigns has afforded him years of experience with Marine development and operations the world over. From Auckland New Zealand where the Viaduct Basin was built to house the teams and create a new waterfront commercial district, to Valencia Spain where a 700 berth marina was built in record time to host the America’s Cup, Peter has witnessed first hand the creation of world class marine developments.
